DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA is America’s Federal District—a 68+ mi2 piece of land where the solo city of Washington, the nation’s capital, sits. The Residence Act, adopted on July 16, 1790, approved the creation of the district, which is located on the east bank of the Potomac River, bordered on the North and East by Maryland, and on the South by Virginia.

Washington, D.C. is unrivaled in both its history and the preservation of it within the city’s confines. You could visit the capital year after year and still not see all the amazing and unique exhibits at the nearly 70 museums (the majority of which are free!), countless memorials and landmarks, and local spots this place has to offer… but we think you should try!
